Uzone.id – Dubai’s skyline is already among the largest in the world and it boasts the tallest building so far. Now the city is to be HOME to the second WORLD’s biggest building.

Construction on the Burj Azizi started in January this year; however, the building’s height was not specified at the time because its developers were waiting for approval, including from the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), which plays a role in planning ‘supertall’ structures.

However, on Wednesday, real estate firm Azizi Developments announced that its skyscraper will be higher than all other buildings around it excluding one, which will reach 725 meters (2,379 feet).

“Initially, we had a design related to the height of 526 meters, and another one related to the increased height which is 725 meters now,” Mirwais Azizi, founder and chairman of Azizi Developments, cited from CNN.

When the developers started preliminary activities this year, they did not rule in either “of these possibilities.” However, with the nod to the more elaborate building plan approved, the extra touches on the fundamentals and frames, called the pilings, are “going very smoothly now,” Azizi said.

The building will be a mixed-use with residential condominiums, an all-suite “seven-star” luxury hotel and a seven-floor vertical shopping mall.

Burj Azizi is to be built at Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai’s World Trade Center area The tower will still be around 103 meters short of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest skyscraper of 2717 ft, which is less than two miles away. It will, however, have no trouble topping local competitors for the title of the second tallest building in the city, which is currently held by Marina 101 (430 meters or 1,394 feet).

When finished it will even outdo the world’s current second tallest under-construction building, the Merdeka 118 in Malaysia, which measures 2,227 feet.

For, the tower is likely to set various records such as the world’s highest hotel lobby on the 11th floor, the world’s highest nightclub on the 126th floor as well as the world’s highest observation deck also on the 130th floor, citing Azizi Developments. The developer also claims the building will set new records for the tallest restaurant in Dubai (Its 122nd-floor building will be taller than the Burj Khalifa’s 122nd-floor restaurant, At. atmosphere) and the highest hotel room in the city located on the 118 th floor of the tower.

Azizi disclosed in a press statement that the investment in the project has gone past 6 billion dirhams or $1,6 billion.

“Burj Azizi my dream project is to set a benchmark, I want to build a structure that would give an insight into Dubai as a dream destination for living and tourists and in essence contribute to architectural advancement in engineering,” the developer said in a statement.

Burj Khalifa was listed by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat as being the tallest building in Dubai and presently has erected more towers more than 300 meters (984 feet) in the world.

So, the city looks with interest at the supercoiling construction that is rarely encountered by construction companies. Some of the records include the highest infinity pool in the world, the largest natural flower garden in the world, and the world’s largest picture frame to mention but a few.
